All we had to do was rock up every second weekend on a Friday night and untie the tent flap and we were all ready. Nothing could be locked and nothing was ever stolen in those days. I can remember catching the double decker bus from Wynyard for the 1 hr trip to the Palm Beach wharf with dad and his best mate Ted Bunn. The old ferry wharf was further south than the existing one and close to a small grocery store that I think now may (or may have been) a bottle shop and the ferry was the 'Swanhilda' a classic old ferry boat with a 'Southern Cross' Diesel engine that never appeared to miss a beat. Other less permanent tent dwellers would erect their tents for the Christmas holidays and leave them up till the Easter break before packing up for the year, but they all came back the following Christmas and we spent the whole 6 weeks of the Christmas school holidays camping. As kids my sister Wendy and I were given the freedom to roam where we liked all day as long as we came back at meal times.

There are many different hiking trails in and around the canyon, if you can it's best to go on a guided hike with an experienced local who knows the area well. Bring sturdy hiking shoes, you do not want to attempt this one in flip flops! You're also going to want to make sure you've got sunscreen, water, snacks, a hat, and if you've got walking poles they definitely wouldn't hurt! If you show up and it looks like the canyon is shrouded in mist don't despair! Because the canyon is so deep low hanging clouds can settle in the canyon, particularly early in the day. But don't worry, give it an hour or so and the sun will take care of them and you'll be gifted with a truly breathtaking view.

Hello; This year is my application year for universities and currently Netherlands seems like a pretty solid choice for me for computer science. But its not only university that effects your life abroad as a student. Accommodation is a pretty big part of it too. I generally have some questions that are very important for me. Not everyone can know the answers all of it but if people pick 1 or 2 questions and i combine it it will be enough for me. 1-) Opinion based (and maybe some facts): Which one would you go for computer science if you get accepted in University of Twente, VU Amsterdam, TU Eindhoven, TU Delft, Radbound? Please try to give some information and if you know about he program info on those would be great too. ( It doesn't only have to be academic reasons it can be reasons like this uni is in a bad place(city and student life wise) or this uni is unnecessarily hard) 2-) I don't have time currently to learn Dutch. Will only knowing English make a very very big problem for me in daily life or do most of the people know English in Netherlands.
